The file handling in the Android version is a bit different so here's a quick tutorial on how to use it:ģ) Give the app the writing permission it asks for (this basically enables the file handling and should create folders on either your SD card or your device's internal storage).Ĥ) Enter a map (any map works, but Emerald may be the fastest one to load by a few milliseconds).ĥ) Click the folder button in the top left corner of the screen so that the app will show you a path to your TRASLA folder. Good news for anyone doing warp randomizer runs mostly on mobile devices: With the latest version (1.0.3) comes the Android release of the tool. I don't know if that makes things better, but I thought I'd implement it regardless. The former method of holding the left one and clicking the right one still works, though. On an unrelated note, you can now mark warps by holding the right mouse button and clicking the left one. This mode will only include script changes that could otherwise cause soft locks. As in all the other modes you can do all gyms and E4 in order, but chances are that you will really need to know the game inside-out in order to open up every warp. HARD mode will randomize warps in a way that increases the possibility of HM or story requirements for gyms or even each other. NORMAL mode will randomize warps just as it was before and keep some of the script changes made in EASY mode. This mode will also feature script changes to make your life easier, like unblocking some legendaries and gym leaders (especially in Crystal and HGSS, where gym interiors can have HM requirements). EASY mode will randomize warps in such a way that you won't need HMs for any mandatory tasks (this includes HM locations, gyms, E4 and some other areas that might at least come in handy). Just a short description of difficulties: I don't want people to miss out on the fun of trying HGSS randomization and some of the other features for themselves, however. Yet, due to my real life studies I won't have the time to do this. The only things stopping me from naming this a release version are just formalities (updating the in-app documentation to reflect the newly added features and making more comprehensive tutorial videos for the main screen). I thought I'd make the latest Windows beta public (see the initial post). Make sure to check out the Changelog below as well. Moreau on a remote planet and a kindly version of the same android model, each becoming fascinated by the other. “Covenant” is fantastically photographed by Scott’s frequent DP Dariusz Wolski, and Michael Fassbender does creepy double-duty, playing both a monstrous artificial person playing Dr. The follow-up to Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” somehow completely forgets to be a follow-up to “Prometheus,” resolving all the dangling threads from the previous movie in a quick flashback - even though that resolution seems extremely interesting - and instead focusing on a new crew of victims who make terrible decisions while they search for extraterrestrials to murder them. “Alien: Covenant” (2017) 20th Century Fox Brown, Trevante Rhodes and Keegan-Michael Key, to name a few, are wasted in a film that sacrifices everything else for the sake of poorly developed world-building. We learn more about the Predators than ever before, but it turns out the real reason they came to Earth is completely ridiculous, and the film’s approach to mental health (most of the characters are soldiers diagnosed with serious issues) is completely reductive and insulting. Shane Black, who co-starred in the original “Predator,” reunited with his “The Monster Squad” collaborator Fred Dekker for a film with a solid pedigree, an exciting cast and lousy ideas. So instead of appreciating all the nasty, gory special effects - there’s one kill at a hospital that’s easily the most disturbing image in the combined history of the franchises - we’re stuck listening to poorly developed characters and their forgettable subplots until they die in shadows so thick they may as well have been off-camera. Set immediately after the first “AVP,” this film about an Alien-Predator hybrid wreaking havoc in small-town America has a lot of gruesome monster effects, but you can’t make them out because the lighting is too dark. It would be awesome to have a blank world to use as a sort of wind tunnel to test the aircraft without having to exit plane maker, open the flight sim, test the plane, close the sim, open plane maker, make adjustments, close plane maker, open the sim, test the plane, and the game goes on back and forth. More flexibility in the plane maker and a simple guide or checklist system would be great. And the buttons are difficult to use because they are tiny and close together. But figuring out which ones you need is a daunting task until you've built at least half a dozen planes. There are many options and features that are not needed to construct a basic flyable aircraft. In plane maker, the steps to complete a working model are unknown without allot of trial and error. And while it isn't perfect, it is getting withing reach of being everything a PC pilot could want.Ĭons: The text and buttons in the menus are small and packed and could be laid out in a more intuitive manner. I could say so much more about this program that is top notch. Incredibly detailed world makes flying a joy no matter where you are or what you are flying. I love the airplane maker and spend most of my time making planes and testing them. Pros: I love the fact that it uses the actual aircraft model to simulate flight and this allows the user to create any aircraft and test to see if it could really fly. The airplane maker is definitely my favorite feature. The object-model aerodynamic flight system is amazing and I spend more than half my time making aircraft and the rest of my time testing them. I have been using X-Plane since version 8 and I do very much enjoy it. X-Plane is amazing and worth the steep learning curve. This is a recut of beta 7 that fixes Plane-Make crashing on startup on Windows This is a recut of beta 7 that fixes Plane-Make crashing on startup on Windows Changes For those that want the challenge of mastering a real airliner or are training for a professional license, it’s the best program out there and will have you absorbed for hours. For those that do have more patience, they need merely move the mouse cursor to the top of the screen where a drop down menu will present access to preferences, instructions, control configuration and many other options.įor those that just want to fly free as a bird and admire the scenery, X-Plane is not for you. In the end, the best I managed was to race around the airport before crashing into and destroying a control tower, killing all on board. There are so many switches and dials in the cockpit that there’s no knowing what to hit without studying the huge flight manual in detail. You are prompted with a few guidelines at how to get rolling (such as “hit spacebar to release the breaks”) although you’re not told how to start the engines. I spent the best part of 10 minutes just sat on the runway trying to work out how to start the engines whilst Air Traffic Control went crazy at me. X-Plane's controls are incredibly complex to mirror a real commercial airliner. The biggest problem you’ll have is working out how on earth to get started. The graphics are vector based so they’re not exactly brilliant but they’re what you’d expect from a simulator. X-Plane naturally features the whole range of weather conditions you might face and the plane reacts realistically to them. You can even test your mettle on aircraft carriers, helipads, frigates that pitch and roll in the waves, and oil rigs. You can pretty much fly to any location around the world and choose from over 18,000 airports to test your landing and take-off skills. There’s even a plane builder option which allows you to build your own model. In all, about 40 aircraft spanning the aviation industry (and history) with several hundred more which can be freely downloaded from the internet. It also offers subsonic and supersonic flight dynamics, sporting aircraft from the Bell 206 Jet-Ranger helicopter and Cessna 172 light plane to the supersonic Concorde and Mach-3 XB-70 Valkyrie. In this X-Plane demo, you are limited to just one aircraft and five minutes of flight but in the full version, you can take control of props, jets, single- and multi-engine airplanes, as well as gliders, helicopters and VTOLs such as the V-22 Osprey and AV8-B Harrier. Depending on your bandwidth, you will be looking at hours, if not days to download the whole thing. All those scenarios, vectored graphics and flight controls take up a lot of hardrive space. Once you’ve installed that, a very swanky download dialogue opens to download the other 1.3 gigabytes of the game. Don’t be fooled by the 1.8MB file size in the game description – that’s just the installer. Stocking up on resources out in The Dust or playing salvage missions in multiplayer for rare materials and gear can be fun when you’re working toward a goal. “Survive is heavy on the grind, but once you have something compelling to grind for - a new weapon you’re eager to craft, more ammo, more energy so you can level up and get a handy new skill - it isn’t entirely a chore. One particularly fun late-game mission had me defending a point solo for 15 minutes straight, and it made the two hours of grinding for supplies in preparation feel worth it. Individual Wanderers may not pose any kind of interesting challenge, but fending them off as a horde can get the blood flowing. Even though the combat amounts to little more than repetitive hacky-slash brawls, like something out of Dynasty Warriors, it was fun to learn and develop small tricks for dealing with enemies. I found it more viable to save up barriers for cutting off lanes of enemies closer to their spawns rather than waiting for them to come to base, choking the smaller hordes early on to make later waves more manageable. It’s in those hectic moments where you’re struggling to manage the onslaught of Wanderers from every direction, bouncing between several entry points at once and fortifying your defenses between waves. But the fun doesn’t come from poking or shooting the same zombie in the face over and over again. “In both modes, Survive’s melee-heavy combat feels good from a mechanical standpoint, even before you’re resource-rich enough to afford ammo. Multiplayer is a good way to get a break from the trudge of single-player and stock up on gear to make story missions easier. Even with an uncoordinated team, it’s extremely simple to S-rank the Easy missions you’re forced to play at first because Normal and Hard don’t unlock until you hit a certain level, but that isn’t a bad thing. Between and even during waves, you can run simple side-missions that give you access to more defensive methods for protecting your wormhole digger as it mines for energy. In multiplayer, you get a chance to craft and choose your loadout in the lobby, but you also have access to a shared pool of resources gathered in-game once the match starts if you want to craft anything further. In single-player, you need to come prepared for each mission beforehand, which means crafting barriers, healing items, and other gear back at base - if you run out, tough luck. “Where Survive’s action thrives is in its wave-based defense missions, which are also the format of its four-player co-op salvage missions in multiplayer with some minor differences. With an initially limited toolset of weapons and abilities, a lack of diverse situations to adapt to, and few compelling reasons to bother, Survive seems to fundamentally misunderstand the circumstances that have made fun, stealthy escapades possible in previous Metal Gear games. The one reason you benefit from a stealthier approach is because an enemy taken down with a sneaky backstab will contain more Kubon energy to harvest, but the currency is hardly in short supply. They also don’t chase you for very long, so attracting their attention has few consequences. Overall, Survive’s enemies are mindless and predictable - they don’t interact with each other in any dynamic way and they don’t exhibit any challenging behaviors to overcome. The standard crystal-headed zombies dominate the vast majority of the combat, and it isn’t until more than halfway through the campaign that their slightly more interesting variants start to show up in greater frequency. “Encounters with the Wanderers, Survive’s base enemy type, are similarly bland. I’ve grown attached to my base and feel compelled to flesh it out with more survivors, found in rescue missions around the map, and resources for building and maintaining new structures. Nearby are my food and medicine repositories for keeping my crew healthy, and opposite my farms, several advanced gear, weapon, and gadget workshops for crafting new equipment.īeing able to manually rearrange each station to my liking and actually see my small group of NPC survivors working on their assigned tasks brought a welcome human element to Survive’s otherwise technical, menu-heavy micromanagement. My current base has small huts and tents set up near the campfire where I can sleep and cook. Each task is done at a different station that you can drag and drop to a location of your choosing, effectively letting you create your own little survival camp. After returning from a mission, I’d repair my gear at my workbench, restock on ammo, cook whatever food I’d been able to scavenge for, boil some clean water for drinking, and check my farms and water purifiers for output. “While things take a while to pick up, I fell into a pretty comfortable base-building routine once they did. The advantage of wmic over other tools is that you can access exactly the information you require. Other useful attributes that you could retrieve with wmic are “manufacturer” or “productname.” This query extracts the description and the MAC address from the extensive information that WMI provides about the adapter. It also supports reading the MAC address through the alias NIC: wmic /node:192.168.23.214 NIC get description, macaddress Wmic is a pretty spartan client for WMI queries. Netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="windows management instrumentation (wmi)" new enable=yes. If you receive the error message “Access denied,” you can configure the firewall with the following command: Remote access to the PC will only work if its firewall is configured to allow inbound WMI queries. You could redirect the output to a file and then store it in an environment variable with the setx command. In this example, the MAC address of the PC with the IP 192.168.23.214 is displayed in CSV format (parameter /fo csv) and in verbose mode (/v). It is easy to use, supports remote queries, and can display results in a structured format: getmac /s 192.168.23.214 /fo csv /v The built-in Windows tool getmac is the perfect choice for this purpose. Using ipconfig is cumbersome and is not an option if you have to read the MAC addresses remotely. The second call finds all remaining lines with the IDs. The first call of findstr removes all lines with empty MAC addresses. To shorten the search results, you should use a filter: ipconfig /all|findstr /V 00-00-00|findstr Physical This is particularly true if your machine contains multiple (virtual) adapters. To display the MAC address, you have to use the parameter /all, which spits out a clutter of information. In most blogs and forums, ipconfig is recommended for reading the MAC address. No further access to those hardware registers is made.Ipconfig: often recommended but unsuitable As far as I can see, it supports no method of actually asking "what is your PROM Ethernet address" - the MAC address is read out during the "probe1" section of the module initialization, and stored away. I had a quick look at the pcnet32.c drivers (because it's one of the models of network card that I have a rough idea how it works and where the different registers are, etc, so I can see what it does). Of course, there are cases where there isn't a hardware network card for that particular interface - virtual network drivers for virtualization and when using bridges and software switches for example.Īnd of course, the hardware may be such that you can't actually read the "original" MAC address when it has been overwritten by software, because there is only one set of registers for the MAC address itself. The only way to find the original MAC address is to use the same method the network card driver does - unfortunately, I don't believe there is a generic way to tell the driver to provide its MAC address "as provided by the hardware". Memcpy(mac, ifr.ifr_hwaddr.sa_data, IFHWADDRLEN) #include /* for the glibc version number */ I suppose it should be possible to write C code for it, below code gives my current MAC but not the original MAC: #include /* Standard I/O */ Is there any utility or command for that? How do I find the original MAC address? There must be a way to find it, because it is still burned permanently into the card, but I can't find a tool to read the burned in address. Or setting it "permanently" using /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0. I understand how to find the current MAC address using ifconfig.īut the address can be changed, say by using ifconfig eth0 hw ether uu:vv:ww:yy:xx:zz I'm trying to figure out how to find the original MAC address of an Ethernet NIC on my Linux box. Is it possible to read the MAC address from the NIC directly? I have the code below but it just reads from the layer above but not the card itself. |
